Our partnerships
Our partnerships with WakeMed, Wake Heart & Vascular Associates, the Brody School of Medicine at ECU and Wilson Cardiology
Associates have allowed Wilson Medical
Center to expand cardiology care.
We have evolved from one room staffed during the day in the early 1970s to a Cardiovascular Services department staffed 24/7 with services ranging from diagnostic to interventional.
Wilson Medical Center’s Cardiovascular Services
Wilson Medical Center’s Cardiovascular Services is a complete care center with services that include the diagnosis, treatment and
rehabilitation of the heart.
We do not perform extensive stenting or invasive cardiac surgeries at the hospital, but we offer so much now in the way of heart care for Wilson County residents.
Cardiac Cath Lab
We have performed diagnostic cardiac catheterizations in our cardiac cath lab since about 1989. Changes to our lab include the recent upgrade of cath lab equipment and the installation of three new GE Vivid E9 4D ultrasound machines. This equipment was upgraded or replaced to ensure that
patients who choose to have their heart care at Wilson Medical Center will have
access to the best technology available.
Peripheral Vascular Interventional Procedures (PVI)
We are now offering perpheral vascular interventional procedures at the hospital, under the direction of Ravish Sachar, M.D., of Wake Heart & Vascular Associates.
PVI is used to diagnose and treat peripheral arterial disease (PAD), a circulation disorder in which plaque builds up in the arterial walls, creating blockages and restricting blood flow to various parts of the body. Our service has been expanded to include not only legs, but also arms and renal arteries, which lead to the kidneys.
Percutaneous Coronary
Interventional Procedures (PCI)
Interventional cardiologist Tift Mann, M.D., of Wake Heart & Vascular Associates will perform PCI procedures at Wilson Medical.
PCI, also called coronary angioplasty, is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat people suffering from coronary artery
disease caused by narrowing or blocked heart arteries.
ICD/Pacemaker Implantation
Cardiac electrophysiologist Kevin Campbell, M.D., of Wake Heart & Vascular Services, performs two procedures at
Wilson Medical Center; ICD and pacemaker implantation. An ICD treats people with abnormal heart rhythms. A pacemaker treats slow heart rhythms.
He also offers monthly pacemaker/ICD clinics at the hospital.
Pediatric Clinic
Led by Dennis Steed, M.D., of ECU Physicians, the hospital offers pediatric heart patients follow-up heart care at home.
Telemedicine
Our physicians are already using telemedicine, which allows them to review studies at Wake Medical Center or the ECU Brody School of Medicine. This helps create a seamless process between the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.
Please feel free to contact us Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 399-8245 with questions.
