WilMed Hospice
WilMed Hospice offers a medically-directed program of palliative care for persons whose illnesses no longer respond to aggressive curative therapies. Hospice patients have a prognosis of six months or less. Unique to Hospice, care is provided by a team of professionals, including the patient's physician, hospice medical director, nurse, social worker, certified nursing assistant, spiritual caregiver and trained volunteers. WilMed Hospice brings this caring team right to the person's home, apartment, assisted living facility, nursing home or wherever the patient resides. Referrals to WilMed Hospice can appropriately be made by anyone: friend, neighbor, clergy, family member, physician, or other healthcare professional. Hospice staff will contact the patient's physician to confirm the diagnosis and appropriateness of hospice care. WilMed Hospice accepts patients and families for care without regard to age, race, sex, diagnosis, religious preference, nationality, handicapping conditions or economic status. A not-for-profit agency, WilMed Hospice provides services based upon need, rather than the ability to pay. Serving the residents of Wilson and surrounding counties, WilMed Hospice is Medicare/Medicaid certified, licensed by the state of North Carolina, a provider member of the Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care, and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. WilMed Hospice has been providing care for hospice patients for 20 years and is your local hometown hospice agency providing individual and compassionate care to patients and families at the end of life.

WilMed Healthcare Foundation
WilMed Healthcare Foundation is the fundraising arm of Wilson Medical Center. The Foundation's goal is to ensure that the healthcare is the very best in our region. Operating as a conduit, the Foundation enlists community support and encourages contributions that make health services available to improve the heath of our community. The Foundation is only as effective as the people who support it. We encourage you to read about our efforts to better the healthcare in our community.

Our contributors have helped build the walking track in front of the hospital, renovate a family waiting room on 3 West, and renovate the rape crisis room on the 6th floor. The Foundation also continues to offer monthly dr. talks forums.

Donations have also contributed to the success of Mother's Day Mammograms, a program that provides free screenings to uninsured and indigent women and Making Tracks, a walking program in our elementary schools to help combat obesity.

Join us today as we better the health of our community.
